What do you do at Joyride?
Get people to laugh at my dumb jokes by bribing them with beer.

Where are you from, and when did you move to Colorado?
Grew up in Illinois, but have spent my adulthood in Seattle, Denver, and San Diego. Been in Denver off and on since 2016.

Why did you move to Colorado?
Didn’t wear enough flannel for Seattle, wore too much for San Diego, found Denver to be just right… (but actually, I moved back here to be near my best friends).

What did you do before Joyride?
Told jokes for money, did finances for money, worked at another brewery for money… Joyride has some of my favorite money though (and beer).

What’s your favorite thing about working at Joyride?
Definitely the community here. I love who I work with, I love our regulars and our neighborhood, and I’m proud to be part of a really special place and group of people!

What do you like to do for fun when you’re not working?
Kayak, mountain bike, garden, and camp in the summer. Read, ponder, and get chubby in the winter. Lots of game nights and dinners with friends too!

What’s your favorite type of music/band?
Oooh, so tough. I like SO much music… but my favorite genre is probably the melancholy “do I love or hate life?” kind of music, also know as Indie. Favorite artists include Bear’s Den, The War on Drugs, Gregory Alan Isokov, Pink Floyd, VAST, Caamp, and basically any 90s rock.

Favorite beer section:
What’s your all time favorite beer?
New Belgium’s Fat Tire – it was one of the first beers I ever tried after I moved away from the Midwest and discovered that all beer didn’t taste like skunky water.

Favorite beer Joyride has ever made?
Oof, EVER? That’s almost impossible to answer. But I guess I’ll go with Goats Go to Helles, it’s always my go-to when it’s on tap. I love a good German lager, and our Helles is no exception. It’s perfectly malty and light and refreshing and always goes down way too easy.

Favorite Joyride beer currently on tap?
The Loxadonta Barrel Aged Imperial Stout! Barrel age beers are one of my favorite kinds, but I don’t have them very often because they are strong and dangerous. This one is particularly good because you get so many unique flavors and the balance of bourbon and rye is just really perfectly offset.

You’re stuck on a desert island and can only drink one style of beer for the rest of your life. What is it?
Definitely pilsners! To me, a pilsner is the perfect beer for lying on the beach or sitting in the sun. It also happens to scream “you’re probably gonna die alone here on this island”, so that helps…

Favorite place you’ve ever visited?
Paris, France or Cawker City, KS where the largest ball of twine lives. It really is a toss-up.

When can people normally find you at Joyride?
Usually Saturdays or Sundays! My schedule is random though, so you may pop in on a Wednesday this summer and see my face.
