Some of the most popular “styles” in craft beer today are seasonal brews that match weather conditions with ingredients to create styles that fit the occasion. Our plan is to have 4 official seasonal beers (spring, summer, fall, winter) with many others that will be rotated seasonally.
Our spring seasonal. In response to a certain Super Bowl ad that wasn’t too nice to craft brewers, we brewed a pumpkin peach berliner weisse a few months ago. It was so popular, we decided to bring it back! We’ve dropped the pumpkin and focused a bit more on the peach. Lactobacillus was allowed to run wild in the wort for 48 hours, leaving a clean tartness, while the peaches counter the tartness with pleasant sweetness. This one was brewed the hard way, so feel free to fuss over and dissect it.
Our Summer Seasonal is our version of a Belgian Witbier. Brewed with orange and lemon peel, as well as coriander and seeds of paradise, our Wit intertwines citrus and peppery spice notes to create an incredibly refreshing summer ale. Belgian yeast contributes a slight tartness with a touch of clove to round out the spice profile. Make sure to try this summer treat before autumn comes!
Our Autumn seasonal. We used English Marris Otter with a touch of rye and caramel malt to create the malt base that reminds of pie crust, then added in Willamette and Kent Golding hops. To add the spice component, we used ground Saigon Cassia cinnamon, organic ground Peruvian Ginger, ground Grenada nutmeg, ground Jamaican allspice berries, organic Madagascar vanilla beans and pureed pumpkin. The result is a balanced and drinkable spiced ale. Have some before winter comes, and don’t anger the Scarecrow!
An alpenglow is the glow you observe on the horizon opposite the sun, just before sunrise or just after sunset. You’ll pick up notes of toffee, caramel and dried fruit, before finishing slightly sweet with a moderate bitterness. This beer was brewed with a blend of Saigon Cassia cinnamon, organic ground Peruvian Ginger, ground Grenada nutmeg, ground Jamaican allspice berries and sweet orange peel. At 7.7% ABV, we’re sure you’ll be “glowing” to each side of the sky.
