Joyride Brewing Company Beers
Available Year Round
Ice Cutter Kölsch
5.2% | 25 IBU | 3 SRM
In the winter after Thomas Sloan flooded his farm, he would cut ice from the lake and sell it to local breweries. As most brewers in the day were of German descent, a Kölsch style beer could have been produced. Our Kölsch is a classic interpretation of the style. It’s very smooth and drinkable like a lager, but has a light fruit flavor from ale fermentation. It has moderate levels of bitterness and noble hop flavor and a crisp, dry finish. Nothing pairs better with our lakeside view than our Kölsch.
Cougar Pale Ale
5% ABV | 40 IBU | 10 SRM
Cougar Pale Ale is west coast inspired with a touch of English character. We use a method known as “hop bursting” and add all of the hops after the boil during our whirlpool. This gives the beer an extremely soft and pleasant bitterness while maximizing hop flavor and aroma. We also add Maris Otter malt as about 20% of the grist to provide a more toasty and bready malt backbone. Take a Cougar home tonight!
5.5% ABV | 50 IBU | 17 SRM
Antelope is a bold, rich and hoppy American Amber that leaps across your tongue. Antelope weaves caramel, nutty and dark fruit flavors from five premium malts with the citrus characteristics from four types of American hops to create this delicious and drinkable ale. Let this one run out of control.
7% ABV | 70 IBU | 10 SRM
Edgewater IPA is a west coast style IPA that bursts out of the glass. We use obscene amounts of Apollo and Chinook with a touch of Amarillo hops to layer citrus, piney, resiny and floral characteristics across your pallet. The hop explosion and dry finish make this extremely drinkable and enjoyable. Edgewater. This is our town. This is our IPA. Take it for a ride.
Bear Paw Oatmeal Milk Stout
7% ABV | 45 IBU | 32 SRM
The Bear Paw is a deliciously decadent Sweet Stout that is robust and silky smooth. Seven different malts create chocolate, roast, caramel and coffee flavors, while six pounds of lactose sugar per barrel balance it out with a velvety sweetness. The flaked oats contribute to a luscious mouthfeel that will leave you wanting another glass. It may seem cute and cuddly, but at 7%, this one’s got some claws.
Joyride Double IPA
9.0% ABV | 100+ IBU | 8 SRN
Calling all Hop Heads, this beer is for you! We used three pounds of hops per barrel to give our Double IPA an aggressive and delicious hop profile. We used 4 different types of American and German malts, but the hops are definitely the star here. We did 7 different additions of Simcoe and Citra hops to layer piney, citrus, tropical fruit and melon flavors into this dangerously drinkable ale. It is served in a 10 oz snifter glass at $5.00 a glass, and growlers are $4 extra, no Happy Hour pricing.
Give Peach a Chance – Spring Berliner Weisse
5.1% ABV | 10 IBU | 5 SRM
Our spring seasonal. In response to a certain Super Bowl ad that wasn’t too nice to craft brewers, we brewed a pumpkin peach berliner weisse a few months ago. It was so popular, we decided to bring it back! We’ve dropped the pumpkin and focused a bit more on the peach. Lactobacillus was allowed to run wild in the wort for 48 hours, leaving a clean tartness, while the peaches counter the tartness with pleasant sweetness. This one was brewed the hard way, so feel free to fuss over and dissect it.
5.2% ABV | 22 IBU | 5 SRM
Our Summer Seasonal is our version of a Belgian Witbier. Brewed with orange and lemon peel, as well as coriander and seeds of paradise, our Wit intertwines citrus and peppery spice notes to create an incredibly refreshing summer ale. Belgian yeast contributes a slight tartness with a touch of clove to round out the spice profile. Make sure to try this summer treat before autumn comes!
Scarecrow Pumpkin Ale
6% ABV | 29 IBU | 12 SRM
Our Autumn seasonal. We used English Marris Otter with a touch of rye and caramel malt to create the malt base that reminds of pie crust, then added in Willamette and Kent Golding hops. To add the spice component, we used ground Saigon Cassia cinnamon, organic ground Peruvian Ginger, ground Grenada nutmeg, ground Jamaican allspice berries, organic Madagascar vanilla beans and pureed pumpkin. The result is a balanced and drinkable spiced ale. Have some before winter comes, and don’t anger the Scarecrow!
Alpenglow Winter Warmer
7.7% ABV | 35 IBU | 20 SRM
An alpenglow is the glow you observe on the horizon opposite the sun, just before sunrise or just after sunset. You’ll pick up notes of toffee, caramel and dried fruit, before finishing slightly sweet with a moderate bitterness. This beer was brewed with a blend of Saigon Cassia cinnamon, organic ground Peruvian Ginger, ground Grenada nutmeg, ground Jamaican allspice berries and sweet orange peel. At 7.7% ABV, we’re sure you’ll be “glowing” to each side of the sky.
6.9% ABV | 30 IBU | 5 SRM
Saison is a farmhouse style ale that originated in the southern part of Belgium and would be served to farm hands as they helped in the field during harvest time. To honor the working tradition of Saison, we named it after Boxer, the horse who represented the working class in George Orwell’s “Animal Farm.” Although the ABV is a bit higher than what you’d find in the field, it uses traditional Belgian and German malts with a touch of rye, along with Savinski Goldings and Hallertau hops.
Fresh Nugz Wet Hop Pale Ale
6% ABV | 50 IBU | 6.5 SRM
We sent our brewmaster to Paonia, Colorado to hand pick Nugget and Chinook hops right off the vine. He ended up using 43 pounds of them the next day. Wet hops impart a much different flavor and aroma than traditional dry hops, and since harvest only comes once a year, there’s only one batch so drink up while it’s here. Fresh Nugz’s hop flavor doesn’t explode out of the glass, but has fantastic piney, woodsy, herbal and citrus notes. There’s nothing quite like some Fresh Nugz.
Defiance Belgian Dubbel
7.86% ABV | 25 IBU | 18 SRM
Sometimes, you have to shake things up a little bit and do things your way. In that spirit, this Belgian ale is something to behold. A toasty, malty sweetness up front gives way to delicious dried fruit flavors, with cherries, raisins and plum standing out. A moderate spice flavor and soft alcohol is also present before finishing bone dry. Defy those who hold you down and raise a glass of Defiance!
Touchdown Brown Ale
6.16% ABV | 45 IBU | 25 SRM
Touchdown is an American Brown Ale that’ll make you want to stand up and cheer. We used seven different American and British malts that contribute chocolate, caramel and nutty flavors and combined them with UK Kent Golding hops for bittering and a large addition of Cascade and CTZ at the end to add citrus, herbal & earthy notes. Go for the end zone with TD Brown!
The Pale MickALE
6% ABV | 50 IBU | 10 SRM
This beer is an American Pale Ale, and was a collaboration with our good friend Andy Mickelson, who donated to us during our Kickstarter campaign at a level that deserved his own beer. The MickALE uses generous amounts of Willamette and East Kent Golding hops, which provide pleasant floral and earthy tones, as well as a small dosing of Citra, which adds some tropical fruit. When you have a friend this good, you have to make a beer to match. Cheers to Andy, and you!
6.42% ABV | 41 IBU | 31 SRM
The second edition of our winter porter series, Nice is an Oaked Vanilla Robust Porter. To create this, we used medium toast American oak spirals and whole vanilla beans from Madagascar. The sweet vanilla and oaky flavors combine beautifully with the porter base to create a very enjoyable dark ale. This is also a special edition, so drink up! It’s the holiday season, and it pays to be Nice.
Kicking Horse® Coffee Porter
5.9% ABV | 41 IBU | 31 SRM
The third edition of our winter porter series, this coffee porter was infused with a custom blend from Kicking Horse® Coffee in British Columbia that was cold brewed by local ByTmee Cold Brew. The coffee provides excellent nutty, earthy and cocoa notes that wonderfully compliment the porter flavors. We think you’ll get a “kick” out of this beer!
4.32% ABV | 20 IBU | 16 SRM
This beer is our version of an English Mild, and it finishes drier than most Milds. It is fruity and estery up front with hints of caramel, chocolate and dark dried fruit in the background. We used Maris Otter, English Crystal and English Pale Chocolate for the malts, added East Kent Golding hops in for bittering, and finished off with a classic English yeast strain. In fact, only the water and the brewers are American! Mild Success makes for a terrific session beer to share with your mates.
6.8% ABV | 80 IBU | 22 SRM
Hoppy Autumn is a hybrid of sorts, too hoppy to be called a brown ale and too light to be called a Black IPA. This beer has a toasty and bready base with a touch of caramel, chocolate and roast from the use of 5 German and American malts. Piled on top are flavors of pine, citrus, tropical fruit and grapefruit from the use of Simcoe, Cascade and Citra hops. Hoppy Autumn has a firm bitterness and dry finish, and will pair well with the changing seasons.
7% ABV | 41 IBU | 31 SRM
The first edition of our winter porter series, Naughty is a Cherry Chocolate Robust Porter. We used a blend of sweet and tart cherry puree with roasted Cocoa Nibs from Ecuador to combine with the chocolate and caramel flavors of the porter. This is a special edition and once it’s gone, it’s gone. So warm up with a pint, it’s okay to be naughty every once in awhile.
Parker Pale Ale
5.63% ABV | 40 IBU | 2 SRM
Named after one of our owner’s newborn son, Parker Pale is a true SMASH beer (Single Malt And Single Hop), using only pale malt from Chile and American Citra hops. The Chilean pale malt leaves a creamy mouthfeel and very slight peppery spice, and represents the adventurous life we wish for Parker, while the Citra adds juicy tropical fruit, blood orange and lemon, and represents the American craft beer industry that he’ll grow up in. Here’s to life, adventure and new beers, cheers!
