Homebrew Recipe for Relax, Don’t Worry – Dark Czech Lager

This past Sunday, October 14th, marked the 40th anniversary of the legalization of homebrewing in this country. Legal homebrewing was not only where my fellow partners and I cut our teeth before we went pro, but it was a catalyst for the entire craft beer movement. Not only did he literally write the book on homebrewing, he founded the American Homebrewers Association,…

What do you do at Joyride? As Joyride’s assistant brewer, I tend to assist the Chief Yeast Sherpa in our pursuit of great beer. Whenever I’m around, there’s a lot to be done whether we are making new beer, moving beer from vessel to vessel, or most commonly, both. The most stressful part of any given day comes when its time to pick new music for the brewhouse. The exception to this comes first thing in the morning on a…

What do you do at Joyride? As the Chief Yeast Sherpa, I spend the weekdays crafting wort and trapping it in tanks with yeast until they learn to get along. I then guide them in the direction of your glass. Where in CO are you from, and where else have you lived? I grew up in Littleton, mostly, then studied film production in Boulder before moving to NYC for about 9 years.  I met my Colorado-native wife in Brooklyn, picked…

What do you do at Joyride? Hired on back in early 2014 as one of the original brewers/bartenders at Joyride, I worked for the company full time for about two and a half years before making the move up to Breckenridge to become a distiller. These days, I still brew and bartend at Joyride a few times a month, and I also work full time for Tap XIV Lodo and will be transitioning to the new Tap XIV Uptown location…
